Those words are from a song sung by Larnelle Harris from back in the late 80’s, early 90’s. One of my favorite lines was, “New beginnings are not just for the young.” Wow! What a profound statement. We get so settled in our lives and as we grow older (hint:EVERYONE grows older, even babies) that we become routine and locked into our current “norm.” God has so much more that HE wants us to do, experience, live, enjoy, suffer through, endure, get beyond, celebrate! Yes, all those words DO go together. God did not promise us (as we humans describe it) an easy, non-obstacled road. Yes, I used non-obstacled as a word because it best described what I wanted to say. We have the illusion that if life is not completely bump-free that somehow God is missing in it. Yet, He promised he would never leave or forsake us…that He was a friend that sticks closer than a brother…that nothing can pluck us from His hand. And, that He would give us the grace to bear all things and not only that, “never put more on us than we could bear.” Do we believe that or not? We all have to answer that individually for ourselves but I can tell you there is so much peace and contentment in trusting Him. We don’t have to figure it out. We don’t have to navigate this on our own. We don’t have to worry and stress ourselves out. We need to simply trust.
Today is a new beginning for me. I have a new website though I will tell you when you visit to please be gentle…it is definitely “under construction.” And my blogs/posts will automatically post to my social media connections. Feel free to respond or engage me. I am also a Word Press newbie. What an incredible tool. I am excited to get to know it more. All this to say I am at a new beginning. I have a new season of life God wants me to venture into. I honestly do NOT know exactly where I am supposed to go and what I’m supposed to do. I just know I’m am supposed to be on the path. He will guide me as I move forward. (Prov 3:5,6) I will write more about that in the future.
I am also beginning a new step today: I am about to read a book called 20,000 Days and Counting: The Crash Course of Mastering Your Life Right Now by Robert D. Smith. I watched an interview and God used this to capture my mind, heart and soul. I KNOW I was supposed to see and hear this today. Have you ever had one of those moments when you KNEW God was speaking into your heart. Today was one of those moments. I cannot wait to see where it will take me. If you want to read it get a copy at wherever books are sold in your town. I got mine as an ebook from iTunes. This is going to be life changing. I know it. I’ll leave you with a thought from the book. One I know you’ve heard before. What if today was your last day on earth…what would you do with the 24 hours you have left…how would you spend it? Think about it!
Chuck
Woohoo!! What a great first post! I’m excited for you, Chuck! And glad to be a small part in helping you along this path of new beginnings. I read Robert D. Smith’s book last year when it first hit the streets. It definitely hit home and rekindled a fire in me to make every moment matter and to live life to it’s fullest.
May God bless you with vision, wisdom, courage, determination and perseverance as you continue on your journey. Peace friend!
AWESOME post Chuck. I must admit that you and your music ministry have been a blessing since those days at Rehoboth Baptist and continue on to today, in your posts on Fb, your blog post and in song. “God has so much more that HE wants us to do, experience, live, enjoy, suffer through, endure, get beyond, celebrate! Yes, all those words DO go together” is a powerful statement! Looking forward to reading and hearing more of what God is doing in and through you and the ministry He has called you to as you continue on in your journey!
